Spironolactone (commonly known by the brand name Aldactone) is a potassium-sparing diuretic and aldosterone receptor antagonist. It is primarily used to manage high blood pressure, treat fluid retention (edema) linked to heart, kidney, or liver disease, and serve as an antiandrogen for hormonal acne and hair growth.
